Honda Canada

About: Honda Canada

In 1969, when Honda came to Canada, we came as a small company with a dream.

Canada in 1969 was quite a different place from what it is today. Pierre Trudeau was in the Prime Minister’s office. The population of Canada was 21,000,000, of whom 20,700,000 could trace their roots back to a handful of European countries. And through these years Honda Canada has grown too, from a small company to a major Canadian institution.

We started with motorcycles and power equipment and it took a lot of work to gain the confidence and trust of Canadians. But we worked hard, and with time, our products earned the respect of the marketplace. And so we grew.

In 1986 we established a manufacturing facility in Alliston, Ontario. In 1998 we built a second facility. And then in 2006, we announced that a third facility an engine plant would be built for 2008. In addition to producing the award-winning Ridgeline pickup, the Alliston plant is the production centre for the popular Honda Civic, the Acura MDX, as well as the Canadian-exclusive Acura CSX. We are the worldwide lead producer of Ridgeline and Civic Coupe. Honda Canada now employs 5,100 associates. Yearly, we buy two billion dollars of goods from Canadian-based suppliers. And we supply products to the U.S., Japan, South America and other parts of the world. Honda is an amazing Canadian success story.

Thank you Canada
