Equating the potential spread of mass behaviour with the efficient, if deadly, spread of viruses and epidemics, Malcolm Gladwell shares his take on the ripple effect in this highly readable pop-sociology book, culled mainly from his series of articles published in the New Yorker. Separating people into three basics types, The Tipping Point uses provocative examples to make its case: there are the sociable Connectors, the knowledge-happy Mavens and the persuasive Salesmen. Observing the behaviour of these types, it`s possible to trace the formation of mass social patterns, such as teenage suicide rates, the efficiency of small work units and even the resurgence of an outdated brand-name garment. Full of challenging snippets, like his take on drug experimentation and prisons, the author`s argument underscores the value of the information highway and the increased dominance and efficacy of the communication age.

Read this while on vacation. This book would appeal to any business person looking for inspiration or to any individual who thinks that the acts of
one person has no impact in the grand scheme of things. Gladwell uses very different cases to explain his points.
