Product DescriptionFrom our Citadel pattern collection.The British built the first Citadel, on a hill overlooking the Halifax harbour, in 1749. While the Citadel has never been attacked, it was an important staging point for troops going overseas in World Wars I and II. For many soldiers, the Citadel was the last landmark they saw leaving home, and the first familiar sight on their return. The straight, strong cuts of our Citadel pattern reflect this proud military heritage. The Stemware Starter Set is comprised of 2 Burgundy, 2 Bordeaux and 2 Flutes. Each style is designed to extract the optimum in flavour and bouquet from a particular wine: the large bowl of the Burgundy and Bordeaux to enhance the flavour of complex reds; the tall and slender flute to emphasize the grape's varietal.
