Programmer Analyst

Buy Canadian First is looking for a talented, motivated and creative PHP Programmer Analyst to join its expanding team in Dorval, Quebec.

As Programmer Analyst, the products you would be working on are (all powered by Joomla):

1. The main property BuyCanadianFirst.ca
2. The Good Shopper Blog, which is part of the main property 
3. The member console, which is the back-end portal where members upload their company and product information

Main responsibilities & qualifications: 

• This position is for someone who is able to work autonomously which means you must have impeccable time management skills, are able to assure the quality of your work (QA) and you know how to set priorities and deliver on them.  
• This position requires you to analyse functionalities, keep the website documentation up to date, test the functionalities you work on before pushing them Live and make sure the quality of your work is at par with the level that is expected and required.
• Even though you may be working alone, you must also be able to communicate with the management and marketing teams, as well as with other consultants who will work on some of the same products. 
• You must be able to adapt to new demands quickly, as this is a small but rapidly growing company.  Changes must sometimes be made quickly in order to address a customers requests or the marketing teams requests.
• You must be a fast learner and continuously strive to be up to speed with new technologies and trends as they relate to the website.

Requirements:

• PHP 5 programming   
• MySQL databases
• Unix/Linux operating system (Ubuntu/Debian in particular)
• Joomla and its addons: Virtuemart & Joomfish
• Knowledge of JavaScript
• Knowledge of SEO   
• Knowledge of Affiliate Marketing    
• Knowledge of DNS and email administration is an asset

Are you a seasoned Canadian blogger? Do you know how to write content that appeals to a specific audience? Are you impassioned by all things Canadian? We are currently searching for talented bloggers for The Good Shopper Blog. If you happen to be bilingual, French & English or live in Nunavut, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Quebec or the Maritimes, we want to hear from you even more!  
 
The chosen bloggers will be responsible for 5-7 posts per week, averaging 300-400 words and can work remotely from their home. The content of each post will be at your discretion; however the topic will have to fit with the brand and our mission, and be in line with our editorial calendar, which will be disclosed upon hiring. You will be able to post your bio and a picture on the site as well. All posts will be submitted through the blog admin tool with corresponding image(s) and will be reviewed and published by the Director of Marketing. Payment is “per post” and paid out twice a month.

Account Managers, across Canada

Buy Canadian First is searching for self-motivated and result-oriented Account Managers to sell member packages to retailers and manufacturers of Canadian-made goods, as well as identify advertising, sponsorship and affiliate opportunities for the main property. Candidates must be driven, have exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to deliver results. Very generous commission-based remuneration.

Main responsibilities:

• Understand and promote Buy Canadian First and how the site is relevant to each prospect;
• Achieve revenue, new business and product targets as assigned;
• Discuss needs with prospects to propose appropriate membership packages;
• Maintain positive and effective customer relationships;
• Ability to monitor results and propose optimizations when appropriate;
• Represent Buy Canadian First professionally and enthusiastically both to internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in business-to-business sales, preferably in online marketing or advertising;
• Strong sales ability including fact-finding, presentation and closing;
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
• Time management skills and ability to organize and prioritize tasks;
• Minimum 2 years of working experience with Internet and digital trends (Web 2.0, Social media, online advertising including Search...);
• Experience using a CRM application (ideally Salesforce.com) to manage leads, accounts and opportunities.

Candidates will be working from home and contacting prospects within their respective geographical locations. Full training, ongoing support and sales leads will be supplied. This position offers career advancement opportunities for those who demonstrate outstanding leadership and managerial qualities.
