Product DescriptionIn 1998 the Bank of Montreal purchased one of my tapestries as a gift to the chair of Irish studies at St-Mary’s University in Halifax, Cyril J. Byrne C.M., Ph.D.A mere few weeks after the unveiling I heard from Dr Byrne. He was hoping to raise the money for another Celtic design tapestry. This one was to be hung in Iona Abbey http://www.isle-of-iona.com/abbey.htm His excitement was contagious and I soon started thinking this next Celtic tapestry. To keep this long story short I will leave most of the reasons to your imagination and merely say that raising the money as well as my producing this piece without the guarantee of a sale, when art was my only source of income was a slow process. To both our dismay the money was never raised but the tapestry is now finished. Dr. Byrne passed away in 2006. I’m sure he would he approved of the finished piece. The tapestry itself took over 500 hrs to complete. That’s not counting the time designing, dyeing the wool for it and finishing the edges.
