City and North Custom Design was launched in June 2007 by carpenter/furniture maker Brad Farinacci in an effort to provide customers in Southern Ontario and beyond with an eco-conscious and original alternative to poor quality, mass produced, and environmentally irresponsible home furnishings.

The City and North Custom Design philosophy is different than most furniture manufacturers but it is remarkably simple and ethically upstanding. Clients can have stylish and highly original home furnishings at a competitive price, while revelling in the satisfaction of knowing their purchase has made as little of an impact as possible on our ever increasingly fragile environment. In addition to choosing something from City And North Custom Design's unique inventory, clients have the option of working with the builder/designer to create a piece from their collective imaginations.

The main medium City And North Custom Design works with is reclaimed wood from old barns around Southern Ontario. The colour, grain pattern and extent to which the wood has been naturally aged by years of exposure to weather varies slightly from barn to barn, even from board to board within the same structure. This difference in aesthetic in the materials provides a stunning contrast in colour and texture in all the pieces manufactured.

Other materials commonly employed in the construction of City And North Custom Design products are recycled or recyclable steel, end of the line or leftover ceramic tile, recycled copper, reclaimed floorboards and bark from fallen trees. The combination of these materials with the reclaimed barn board are often striking and interesting. Completed pieces often resemble a functional piece of art that will certainly be the focal point of any room in your home or cottage.
